POSITIVE VIBE 2020
Despite the crazy year we succeed in putting together our beautiful positive vibe event together with the support of the local community. We keep going and growing strong thanks to you all.

Positive Vibes
September 29th 2019
The Positive Vibes event in Brisbane this September was a great success! Our special guest Professora Borrachina from Portugal was amazing showing us what real hard work and dedication can achieve. Many thanks to the guests and participants from Australia and NZ who contributed to the event's success.

Ungu Clinic Success
March 30, 2019
This March we had one more successful clinic for the graduate students that carry on with our work in New Zealand. Little by little we are stabilising our work philosophy based on the fundamentals of the past and the present.

Welcome 2019
January 6th, 2019
Welcoming the new year with a good spirit and new resolutions to keep ourselves motivated during the year. Last year we had some great events, finishing off with a fun little event in Brisbane, a one day event called "Positive Vibes", which helped top off a great year of Capoeira for Ungu. We have some little events in the planning stages already with our Ungu clinic to be held in March in Hamilton this year, and a bigger event in Brisbane later in the year.
Hoping everyone is well rested after the Christmas break and is ready to get back into training.
Let's do this!

The Reunion
September 17th 2018
This weekend past, we had a very successful Camaradadgem event in Christchurch. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped out, we couldn't have done it without you. It was really great to see old faces and reunite old friends. It just goes to show that the capoeira community is just like a family, and we had a great family reunion. Congratulations to the students who received new cordas, especially to the new Graduado Sushi.
Keep working hard and we will see you all at the next event!

Introducing Mestrando Perere
July 28th 2018
We would like to congratulate Mestrando Perere on receiving his new title at the Aruande Capoeria event, Atravessando Fronteiras, in Cuiabá Brazil. Pererê was awarded the title by his beloved teacher Mestre Demetrius. Surrounded by his friends and family, including some of his students from New Zealand and Australia, the ceremony was emotional and uplifting and reflected the love and respect Pererê has for his capoeira teachers as well as his commitment to the art of capoeira. We are all very proud of our teacher and know he will continue to excel in the years to come.

Winter is coming!
20th May 2018
The weather is getting colder but we have a lot to look forward to.
Early June, Professor Perere will be undergoing his formatura at an event in his hometown of Cuiaba in Brazil. The event will be run by Perere's Mestre, Mestre Demetrius of Aruande Capoeira. To give our support to Perere a couple of the students from NZ and Australia will be travelling to Brazil for the event. But if you can't make this event be sure to make our next event in NZ!
We are happy to announce that we will be holding a big event in Christchurch this September with many international guests! Have a look at our event page for more info.
Keep warm and train hard!

Clinic and Dunedin Classes
6th February, 2018
In January we had our 5th annual Ungu Capoeira Clinic in Christchurch. This was a great success with everyone coming out of it saying they had learned a lot and are motivated for another year of Capoeira.
In other news, classes have now started again for the year in Dunedin; with Adult classes held on Mondays and Wednesdays and kids classes on Saturday mornings. Check the classes page for more details.

Happy New Year
4th January 2018
Hopefully everyone has had a wonderful and restful break and is ready to get back into it!
Classes in Brisbane will be starting back on the 10th of January at the Woolloongabba Substation. This year the class time will be extended slightly. Kids classes will also be starting in Brisbane running every Monday from the 29th of January at 5:30pm.
Classes in Christchurch will be starting on Monday 8th January, and this year we will be shifting our Thursday class to Wednesday instead. So now we have training every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Classes in Dunedin will be starting sometime in February, tbc.
On the 26th to 28th of January we will be holding our annual Ungu Capoeira Clinic where we get together to train the techniques, games, history and music that we use inside our school. This will be held in Christchurch this year.
All in all it is shaping up to be a good year for Capoeira, and we look forward to seeing everyone at classes!!
