Mestrando Pererê
Joao Rosa known in Capoeira as Mestrando Perere, from Cuiaba, Mato Grosso (MT), Brasil. Married, father of two and one in the way. Started capoeira in 1990 in his home town with the legendary Mestre Sombra, one of the oldest active Mestres of MT state, with more than 50 years of capoeira practice.
In 1996, he joined Mestre Demetrius, his Mestre to the present day. Mestre Demetrius’s capoeira group was one of the biggest groups in Mt at the time and was called Capuraginga and later became Aruande Capoeira.
Mestrando Perere reached his graduado level in 2002 and started his journey as a teacher in his city Cuiaba and outside of Cuiaba in the city called Sinop. At the end of 2005, he moved to teach in New Zealand, first in Dunedin and later in Wellington.
In 2013, along with his New Zealand students and the blessing of his master, he opened his own capoeira school with the name of UNGU CAPOEIRA. In 2016, after 11 year in New Zealand and a solid capoeira work in three cities, he moved to Brisbane opening another chapter in his capoeira life.
In 2018, he was graduated as a Mestrando de capoeira by Mestre Demetrius and today, after 8 years living in Brisbane and promoting capoeira, he has his home, his family and a strong group of students, which he is very proud of.
