Graduada Esperanca
Kate Turner
Started capoeira in 2010 with graduado Cai Cai, Pererê’s student in Ōtepoti Dunedin, Aotearoa New Zealand. In 2011, she spent six months in Brazil, learning Portuguese and experiencing the richness and depth of capoeira throughout Brazil.
In 2013, Esperança competed in the World Capoeira Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan - as a taste of "competitive capoeira" - and came first in her category. In 2015 she then received her graduada belt and for the past two and a half years she has been teaching capoeira in Te Whanganui ā Tara Wellington, Aotearoa.
Over the last 14 years she has been training and travelling, meeting many capoeiristas around the world who have enriched her capoeira in both knowledge and community.
